Approximately 1000 volunteers visited McDowell and Logan Counties to do housing rehabilitation, VBS Day Camps and participated in worship and fellowship.  Taking part in such an experience is the chance of a lifetime!  Hosting folks from different parts of the country as well as various parts of WV gives each volunteer and the local communities/individuals/families an opportunity to grow in understanding of each other as we worship and serve God together.  Using our hands, voices, talents, and resources, we come together to “worship” and share God’s love in a unique, special way. What an awesome opportunity to get a glimpse of “heaven on earth”…although home repair projects often offer challenges that are certainly not heaven-sent!  The challenge of keeping 40 youngsters’ attention and focus on Bible stories and teachings takes special people who God sends. To share in these experiences is to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ in a most unique way.  But perhaps the most rewarding and refreshing part of the summer is sharing Jesus with homeowners, children, or adults who live alone, or introducing Christ to someone who doesn’t yet know Him as Lord and Savior.  Oh, what a celebration that is!  What a wonderful time it was when a young lady gave her heart to the Lord while serving as a volunteer team member last year…and the kids who still love to read because of the Reading Railroad…or those who go to church because of the Day Camps during the summer… All of this is done “in a day’s worship” and worth every minute of the effort!!!
