Dear Friends,

As summer 2005 approaches, we at McDowell Mission have reached the point where we need your help.  One of the most important aspects of our program is the summer staff.  Because you have expressed the desire for information about the positions available, I have described them below.

For those of you familiar with our summer staff positions, many of them have been changed and some no longer exist.  However, the positions described below require that you are 18 yrs of age and have a valid drivers’ license.  They pay a stipend and provide room and board.

 1.  The first new position available to you is that of Project Leader.  Project Leaders will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with several teams each week.  They will lead orientation with the teams on Sunday night, check supplies in facilities (including food), visit sites, enforce policies, and actively trouble shoot.

  2.  The second new position that will be available for the summer of 2005 is that of site coordinator.  The Site Coordinator is responsible for getting the teams started on the work, delivering materials, and either answering or finding answers to technical questions.  Site coordinators may also be responsible for building relationships with their team and leading orientation.

  3.  Our teams lead Vacation Bible School (Day Camp) at three sites each week of the summer.  Each summer staff working with Day Camp will be responsible for picking up and dropping off the children, coordinating the teams and local volunteers, interacting with the children, and shopping for supplies.  This is a great opportunity to share your faith with young children.

  4.  McDowell Mission uses our warehouse extensively throughout the summer to store most of our materials and our tools.  We need an individual to assist in the organization of the warehouse.  This position would include sorting tools as they come in, checking tools out, and maintaining the necessary quantity of materials.

The position described below requires that you are 16 years or older and available from May 24-August 14. It pays a stipend, provides room and board, and may involve more than the details given.

Being a member of our work crew provides an opportunity for people interested in a less direct form of ministry.  Members will be responsible for maintaining the grounds at all of our facilities, removing trash from our work sites, assisting in maintenance on our facilities, and being available to help other staff as needed.

McDowell Mission also conducts a Praise and Worship service for teams, staff, and homeowners every Monday and Thursday of the summer.  The Praise Team includes a conglomeration of staff who are interested in leading worship through music.  If you wish to be a part of this team, please indicate your specific interest (guitar, vocal, drum, etc.) on the application.

We ask that you prayerfully consider where God is leading you this summer.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the above address.  If you feel Him leading you to service through McDowell
Mission, please fill out the  application printed below and return it to the above address.

    Building in Him,

    Jenny Lee
